Obese Girls Perform Worse in School Than Peers, Study Finds

A new study finds girls who are obese at age 11 and remain obese perform worse academically than their peers of healthier weights.

According to an article from U.S. News, a new study has found that female students who are overweight in their adolescence tend to have lower performance in school. While this was less conclusive for guys, the research result for female students overall illustrated that girls who were obese at age 11, on average, scored a D in core subjects such as English, math and science.

Personally, I absolutely can agree to this finding because, in my opinion, obesity reflects individual’s lack of overcoming a temptation and self-management skills. Hence, failure to equip with the skills will obviously have some effects on one’s performance in daily life.
